How to Get Over Fear of the Dentist
A great way to deal with dental anxiety is to try to identify the root cause and
communicate it with us. If we know you have had a bad experience with any part
of your dental care in the past, we will work hard to make sure that you don’t have
similar experiences at our office. We find all patients (whether highly anxious or
not) appreciate it when Dr. Sato and our clinical staff:
- Gently explain what you might feel, and for what length of time
- Frequently ask you if it’s okay to continue
- Allow you to stop the procedure at any time
- Provide any requested breaks during procedures
For those patients who may be dealing with a high level of anxiety, we also offer
Nitrous Oxide (aka “laughing gas”) and Anxiolysis (a cocktail of prescription
medications that greatly aids in relaxation).
